What to Expect
Making this decision is never easy. When the time is right, here's what you can expect:
Preparation to Visit
To allow us to focus on your beloved pet during our visit, all arrangments will be made ahead.
After care options, consent form and payment will occur at the time of booking the appointment.
The visit may take place anywhere in the home or outside.
Your pet is welcome to have any type of treat the day of the visit. Feel free to spoil them!
During the Visit
Dr. Jones will review the procedure and discuss any final thoughts, concerns or questions you may have.
Pain medication and a sedative will be administered first to ease your pets discomforts and put them into a calming sleep. Once asleep and no longer responding to stimulation, euthanasia medication will be given to bring end of life.
Dr. Jones will closely monitor your pet and confirm with you once the procedure has completed.
Aftercare
Following the service, families can either arrange private care for their pet's remains or Dr. Jones will assume responsibility for cremation with our partner facility - Final Gift.
If you wish for additional memoriabilia of your pet, please visit the Final Gift Website.
Dr. Jones will also communicate with your family's veterinarian of your pets passing for their records.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is euthanasia the only service you offer?
Yes, this is my sole focus. I found that by dedicating my practice entirely to end-of-life care, I can be there for families when they need me most.
What parts of New York do you travel to?
I travel to the areas within upstate New York indicated on the map. As of now I am solely licensed in New York and do not travel outside the state for appointments.
What is your cancellation policy?
Cancelations up to 2 hours in advance of the appointment are free of charge. If for any reason you need to cancel less than 2 hours before your appointment, a $125 cancellation fee is applied.
How do I make an appointment?
To make an appointment, simply use the scheduling page to view open times. Services can also be found below.
If you can't find a time or day that works for you, please email me and I will try my best to accommodate your needs.
I am looking to euthanize my pet due to behavioral issues. Will you do that?
Unfortunately I do not provide behavioral euthanasia. Please contact your regular veterinarian for behavior related euthanasia.
How do I know euthanasia is the right choice for my pet?
Since pets can't tell us when they're struggling, noticing changes in their daily life is essential. If you'd like guidance, Dr. Jones offers phone consultations to help you assess your pet's well-being and explore your options.
Who can be present during the visit?
Any family memeber is welcome to be present during the visit. It is up to the discretion of the family if they want young children present.
